Advantages of Panelized Homes

Panelized homes utilize SIPs, the latest in home building technology. (SIPs are Structurally Insulated Panels, sections of high-performance foam that can be used to construct almost every section of a home.) When compared to traditional "site-built" homes, you will find that panelized homes are:
  • faster to install: Since the panels are created in a factory (rather than a "job site" where weather, equipment failures, and human error are all possibilities) installation is finished very quickly.

  • flexible: Panelized homes offer buyers a wide variety of floorplan options. Not only can they choose their floorplans from a builder's existing models, they can customize nearly any model to suit their individual needs and tastes. From a builder's perspective, panelized homes are equally flexible. SIPs can be assembled through a variety of joining mechanisms, or "splines," including old lumber, engineered lumber products, I-Joists, or cam locks. They are also fully compatible with any floor or foundation system.

  • more environmentally-friendly: SIPs use roughly 65% less raw timber than other construction techniques. Studies have also shown that homes with exterior SIPs use less energy than traditional wood-framed walls with fiberglass insulation.

  • more cost-effective: SIP roofing allows homes to be built with true vaulted ceilings, which creates enough extra space for second stories or lofts. This additional space adds value to panelized homes simply through efficient design and construction techniques.

  • stronger and safer: Research has proven that SIPs are stronger than their stick frame counterparts when confronted with seismic and hurricane conditions.

  • quieter and more draft-free: Panelized homes are "air-tight," eliminating drafts and most outside noises.
